Conference Deadline Extended to December 15

The deadline to submit proposals for the 2015 Guild Conference The Urban Northwest in Landscape and Story has been extended to December 15, 2015.

The Guild Conference is unique in the Pacific Northwest, offering opportunities for all those interested in historical research to share their insights with others. The program includes new work by academic historians and independent scholars as well as by community historians, journalists, genealogists, oral historians, students and folklorists. We also invite papers from researchers in other disciplines. This year we are inviting submissions that investigate the region’s rich history of urban communities.
Suggested topics include but are not limited to:

• Public Health
• Housing
• Urban Indigenous experiences
• Women and Gender
• Immigration and emigration
• Conservation and environmentalism
• Ethnicity and race
• Transportation
• Energy
• Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender histories
• Politics and political movements
• Labor movements
• Public space
• Public memory
• Urban Planning
• Military history
• Art
• Literature
• Music

Please submit proposals by December 15th, 2014 to pacificnwhistoriansguild@gmail.com for review by the conference program committee. We encourage all manner of presentation formats, papers, panel discussions, walking tours, and more.

Proposals should include a title, presenter contact information, brief presenter biography, and a paragraph describing the presentation (not to exceed 300 words).
