About the Guild

The PNW Historians Guild was organized in 1980 and held its founding meeting on the University of Washington campus that autumn. In 1983, the first Guild Conference was held in Seattle. They have been held most years since then.Programs for the Guild Conferences since 2000. Beginning in 1986, the Guild has also given the PNW History Award in recognition of significant achievement in the service of advancing of regional history. PNW History Award winners. Purpose

Membership in the Guild is open to scholars, teachers, students, and the general public interested in the preservation, development and dissemination of history of the Pacific Northwest. Mission Statement of the Guild.

Board of Trustees

The Guild is governed by a Board of Trustees of six members, serving staggered three year terms. Nominations are accepted each fall for two new members, and they are elected at the January Business Meeting & Annual Banquet. The new Board then elects a President for a two year term. Vacancies are filled by the Board and ratified by the membership of the Guild, upon 30 days notice, at its next regularly scheduled meeting. Current Board Officers.

Membership Benefits

Joining is easy... and inexpensive. Annual dues are $20 ($10 for students) per calendar year. Your membership entitles you to:

  • Six program meetings
  • Eight issues of Northwest Historian, the Guild's newsletter
  • Two guided Rambles to historic sites in the Pacific Northwest
  • Occasional Bulletin. This periodic email includes requests for proposals, conference announcements, job postings, readers' requests for information and more.
  • A listing (optional) on our Web site. This can include your publications, abstracts of current research and other information.
