Twelve authors to be introduced at book preview partyJoin us for the unveiling of the Guild's new book, on December 16, 2002 from 5:30 to 7 pm at Seattle's Museum of History and Industry. We encourage you to stop in for an enjoyable evening of light refreshments, introduction of the authors at 6 pm, and a no-host wine bar.
Witness history at the unveiling of the Guild's first bookCopies of More Voices, New Stories: King County, Washington's First 150 Years will be available for sale to the public for the first time at this event. The volume's twelve essays were selected from the last two Guild conferences marking the sesquicentennials of the founding of Seattle (1851) and King County (1852). The twelve authors whose papers comprise the More Voices volume received support from a matching grant from the King County Office of Cultural Resources along with contributions from the Henry M. Jackson Foundation, the Seattle Foundation, and the John M. McClelland Foundation, as well as a growing list of Guild members. Preview the book's table of contents > Past and current members are invited to the first Guild reunionIn conjunction with the book preview party, all members past and current are invited to attend to hear the stories of our origins and the landmarks of two decades of promoting the study and dissemination of regional history. Attempts are under way to contact all of the original seventeen members who met beginning in the fall of 1980 at 211 Hutchinson Hall on the University of Washington campus. The reunion will be the first since the founding of the Guild in October 1980. |
